Celebrated New Earth inhabitants: This week's cherished offspring
In the heart of Neuss, Germany, a unique family reunion took place on August 25, 2023, as two close-knit families welcomed news members into their lives. The Lukaskrankenhaus became the stage for the births of Amélia Antunes Lopes and Jolie Weinz, who were born just a few minutes apart.
The Weinz family, comprising Ingrid (34) and Sebastian (35), were already parents to Luan and Alissa, born at the Neusser Furth birth clinic. The Antunes Lopes family, on the other hand, consists of Rafaela (28) and José (30), as well as their older children, Bella and Romeu, who were born at the Rheinland Klinikum Neuss within 15 days of each other, about two years ago.
The families, who met in a childbirth preparation course, have been close friends ever since. Veronika Weinz, an assistant doctor, was present at both births, lending her professional expertise and personal touch.
Amélia Antunes Lopes arrived at 9:56 AM, measuring 50 cm and weighing 3310 grams. Jolie Weinz followed suit at 8:24 AM, slightly larger at 53 cm and 3765 grams. The breaking news of the twin births brought heartfelt congratulations from Emilia's Brazilian grandmother - Alexander's mother.
Alissa, Emilia's older sister, was immediately thrilled and took on her role as the big sister. Luan, Emilia's older brother, welcomed her warmly but was a bit reserved, needing some time to adjust to the new family member. Dominika reported that everyone had to get to know each other in the first few days.
The families chose the Neusser Furth birth clinic because of its family atmosphere, as described online. They also had positive experiences with the Lukaskrankenhaus, having stayed there in 2023. Rafaela and José Antunes Lopes moved to Germany from Viseu, Portugal, ten years ago.
As the families settle into their new roles, they look forward to many more memories and milestones together. A video message from Emilia's Brazilian grandmother added a special touch to the joyous occasion, further strengthening the bond between the families.
