Campaign advocates for maintaining the Traditional Air Bath Experience
The historic Dölzschen Lido, a beloved outdoor pool in Dresden, faces an uncertain future as funding issues loom large. The operating permit for the pool, known locally as the Dresden FKK outdoor pool, expires this year, and the water treatment facility requires an immediate replacement.
Swimmers have taken matters into their own hands, initiating an online application to prevent the permanent closure of the Lido. As of the article, over 2,700 people have signed the application, which runs until September 8. The collected signatures will be handed over to Mayor Jan Donhauser on September 15.
The application's goal is to secure the necessary funds for the Lido's renovation, which currently seem uncertain. The lack of funds threatens the closure of the Lido, a venue that has been in operation since 1870.
In addition to the application, the application's initiators have addressed an open letter to Building Minister Christian Bernreiter, implying he is a key recipient or addressee related to actions around that time.
The fight to save the Dölzschen Lido is gaining momentum, with swimmers and locals alike rallying to preserve this piece of Dresden's history. The application serves as a testament to the Lido's importance to the community and the determination of its supporters to keep it open for future generations to enjoy.
