Blossoms burst forth throughout the neighborhood during Easter
The Mostviertel region in western Austria is gearing up for a spectacular event this spring – the pear blossom spectacle. Over 120,000 pear trees are expected to bloom, creating a breathtaking sight that is a natural attraction in the region.
The highlight of the pear blossom season is the Day of Must on April 27, 2025. Michaela Hinterholzer, the chairwoman of the LEADER region Moststraße, invites everyone to visit the region during this special time. Two vintage buses will offer circular routes through the region, stopping at seven must taverns and inns on this day.
Michaela Hinterholzer, who is also the chairwoman of the Moststraße Leader Region, is involved in promoting natural experiences and visitor offerings in the Mostviertel area. The region is also home to the Herz Mostviertel circular hiking trail, a new addition for leisurely hikes during the pear blossom spectacle.
The duration of the pear blossom spectacle is approximately 5-10 days, depending on the altitude. This year, due to cool temperatures, the pear blossom has been delayed by several weeks. It is now expected to last from Easter weekend until April 27, 2025.
During the Day of Must, there will be special experiences at each stop. Communities, must taverns, inns, must barons, farm shops, and tourist attractions offer various events during the must spring. The pear webcam will provide live images of the current blossom status for visitors.
The pear blossom spectacle in the Mostviertel region will follow the end of the Wachau apricot tree bloom. Last year, the pear blossom occurred at the beginning of April, but this year it is expected to last longer. Must Baron Toni Distelberger has explained that the pear blossom is delayed this year.
Passengers can get on and off at each stop, with the buses regularly passing the stops for a comfortable tour. No specific viewpoints, picnic spots, or cycling tours were mentioned in the context of the pear blossom spectacle. However, the historic pear avenues, picturesque villages, and past impressive four-sided farms promise a scenic backdrop for this unique event.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the Mostviertel region during the pear blossom season. The Day of Must on April 27, 2025, is a must-visit for anyone interested in experiencing the enchanting pear blossom spectacle.
