Feeling the Flower Power:

Gotta pause, take a breather, and appreciate the purple paradise unfolding Lavender by the Bay, nestled in the picturesque East End of Long Island, is bustling with lavender blooms this summer.

A Tale of Love, Land, and Lavender

This family-owned farm has been nurturing premium lavender for more than two decades, all started by a man who knew his way around cows and the French countryside. Serge, a man who spent his childhood summers tending a cattle herd in the south of France, turned his agriculture passion into a formal endeavor in Israel and eventually brought it stateside.

In the late 80s, fate led Serge and his wife, Susan, to a weekend retreat property in Southold, New York. To remind them of their French roots, Serge transformed their garden into a lush lavender oasis. Susan took advantage of the abundant leftover blooms, crafting sachets, lavender wands, and rustic bunches to sell at the end of their driveway.

The demand for their homegrown lavender and honey, a byproduct of Serge's beekeeping hobby, surged. In search of land to expand, the couple discovered the perfect spot in East Marion, New York, and welcomed Lavender by the Bay to the scene.

Today's Lavender By the Bay

Lavender by the Bay now boasts two locations - East Marion and Calverton. Spread across 17 acres, the Calverton farm is thriving with a mix of English and French lavender plants. With over 80,000 lavender plants, this flourishing field usually blooms from mid-June to July and then again in smaller quantities late in the summer and early fall.

However, these fragrant fields bloom for only a short period. When the lavender does bloom, it's time to head over and soak in the spectacle.

Frolic among the delightful purple blooms isn't your only option: purchase fresh lavender bundles, candles, teas, plants, body products, and honey from their own beehives to fill your home with the harmonious scent of lavender.
