Blooming novelty at Caritas Senior Home: Senior residents to enjoy outdoor greenery in fresh garden space.

In the heart of Ingolstadt-Gerolfing, a unique transformation has taken place at the Caritas Senior Center St. Josef. The center's garden area has been metamorphosed into a vibrant, inviting space, thanks to the generous support of the Stiftung Vöhlin Stiftung, the Lucky Spiral, and the Caritas Association Eichstätt.

The main purpose of this new garden is to ensure the residents feel good and can stay fit. Uncommon equipment such as an arm bike, pedal trainer, Xylophon Harmony Glockenspiel, Babel Drum, and stainless steel drum have been installed, catering to a wide range of abilities, including wheelchair users.

The garden renovation, which took place from May to August, was carried out by the Garden and Landscape Construction of the Caritas Homes and Workshops Ingolstadt. The result is a "real eye-catcher," according to Sarah Jacoby, the facility manager, who expresses her satisfaction with the new garden.

Next to the equipment area, a bed of perennials has been planted, making the garden not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The new garden is intended to be a space that welcomes not only the residents but also employees and relatives.

Sarah Jacoby has plans to host an official festival in the new garden next summer, further enhancing the social and recreational aspects of the space. One of the regular users of the new garden is 92-year-old Edith Beringer, who enjoys using the arm bike. Adelheid Neumaier, another resident, spends her time playing on the Xylophon Harmony Glockenspiel.

The arena paving in the garden adds to its appeal, making it accessible and user-friendly for all. The new garden and equipment were designed to provide residents with opportunities for physical activity and entertainment, contributing significantly to their overall quality of life.

Photographs of the garden renovation were captured by Peter Esser, documenting the transformation of the Caritas Senior Center St. Josef in Ingolstadt-Gerolfing into a space that truly caters to the needs and interests of its residents.
