Award reception of Heimatmedaille Baden-Württemberg 2025 for the Commission

The Baden-Württemberg Homeland Days are underway, and this year's state festival is being hosted by the city of Weinheim. The event is a celebration of regional culture, history, traditions, dialects, art, and social and integrative projects.

Ten citizens were honoured with the Baden-Württemberg Homeland Medal, an award that recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities and to preserving Baden-Württemberg's traditions. Among the honourees was Irmhild Mannsfeld, who was recognised for her work in founding the Gerbereimuseum.

The selection of personalities for the Homeland Medal is made by the Baden-Württemberg State Committee for Homeland Care, which advises the minister on the choice of recipients. The committee considers suggestions from working groups for homeland care in the four government districts before making its recommendation.

The honourees of the Homeland Medal create places of encounter and strengthen village and city communities. They also promote acceptance and democratic participation. The working groups cooperate with around 200 member associations and clubs in homeland and tradition care.

State Secretary Arne Braun presented the awards, emphasising that having a homeland is a great fortune and that homeland is not 'them and us', but only 'us'. Arne Braun also highlighted that the awarding of the homeland medals traditionally marks the beginning of the state festival days.

For inquiries related to the Homeland Medal, you can contact the Press Office, whose contact information is available on the ministry's website. Citizen inquiries can also be made through a contact form on the ministry's website.

The ministry's YouTube channel features portraits of past honourees of the Homeland Medal, offering a glimpse into the lives and work of those who have helped to keep communities and Baden-Württemberg traditions alive.

The honourees of the Homeland Medal are truly deserving of recognition, and their contributions to their communities and to Baden-Württemberg's rich cultural heritage are worthy of celebration. The Baden-Württemberg Homeland Days are a fitting tribute to these remarkable individuals.
