Anticipation Builds for Munich's Wiesn during Oktoberfest 2025

Prepare for an unforgettable experience at the 190th Oktoberfest in Munich, taking place from September 20 to October 5 on the Theresienwiese. This year, several notable improvements have been introduced to enhance guest convenience, hygiene, payment ease, and entertainment variety.

Accessibility Improvements with Free Drinking Water Fountains

Ten new fountains providing free drinking water have been installed across the festival grounds. Locations include the Oidn Wiesn, near toilets, Familienplatzl, Esperantoplatz, and near the wheat beer carousel on Matthias-Pschorr-Straße 6. Additional fountains opened in April 2025 at St.-Pauls-Platz and by the Theresienwiese subway station’s new toilet facilities [1].

Expanded Cashless Payment Options

About half of all stands and attractions now support card payments. For the first time, the crossbow shooting tent accepts cashless payments. The Münchner Stubn tent has introduced exclusive cashless payment, accepting Girocard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. However, not all staff are yet equipped with mobile devices for cashless acceptance [1].

New Rides and Scheduled Construction

Construction started in late June 2025, with major brewery festival halls and catering establishments built early. Roller coasters, ferris wheels, water rides, and bumper cars, ghost trains, and other attractions were installed from August 27 and early September, ensuring a refreshed lineup of rides and amusements [2].

Discounted Family Days

The popular family days with reduced prices on travel, admission, and sales are being offered again on both Tuesdays during the festival [1].

New Attractions

The "Ghost Cave," a retro ghost train from 1965, and the "Montgolfiere," a high carousel with gondolas in hot air balloon design, are among the four new merry-go-rounds premiering at the Oktoberfest. The "Happy Sailor" and "Sky Lift" are also joining the lineup [2]. The Sky Lift offers a panoramic view of the city and is accessible for wheelchair users [3].

Other Noteworthy Changes

  • The museum tent exhibition "Photography on the Fairground" showcases the "DNA of the Showmen" [2].
  • The city has called for the music competition "A Lied für'd Wiesn" for the first time this year [2].
  • The Munich Quota has been expanded, allowing innkeepers to reserve an additional 10% of seats for locals on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays starting at 3 pm [2].
  • Food vouchers are not required for the reserved Munich Quota seats [2].
  • There are now barrier-free entrances, toilets, and wheelchair-accessible seats in the large beer tents [3].
  • On the Old Wiesn, carousel rides still cost only 1.50 euros [3].
  • A foundation for inclusion will examine the offers on the first Wiesn Monday [3].

Join us at the 190th Oktoberfest in Munich for a unique blend of tradition and innovation. Enjoy the new attractions, improved facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere that promises an unforgettable experience!
