The 30th Tag der Sachsen Festival in Sebnitz: A Celebration of Saxony's Culture and Community

From September 5 to 7, 2025, Sebnitz, the 'City of Silk Flowers', will host the 30th Tag der Sachsen (Day of the Saxons) festival, the largest folk and club festival in Saxony. This three-day event is a celebration of the cultural, social, sports, and traditional life of Saxon clubs and communities.

The festival, held in the heart of Saxony, is a unique experience that showcases Sebnitz's vibrant culture and community spirit. The city has chosen the motto "Flourishing Experiences" for the event, reflecting the rich variety of presentations, activities, and participations that visitors can expect.

Approximately 200 clubs from Saxony will participate, offering a diverse range of stage performances, behind-the-scenes contributions, and colourful participation in the traditional parade on the festival's last day. The festive parade, or "Festumzug", planned for Sunday, September 7, will involve community participation and creative displays by the participating groups.

Music is a significant part of the Tag der Sachsen. Around 200 men will sing mountain, hiking, and forest songs publicly on the marketplace, inviting the audience to join in the singing. The Sächsischer Landtag (Saxon State Parliament) will also present an information tent at the "Demokratieviertel" (Democracy Quarter), highlighting civic engagement and democratic values.

The Tag der Sachsen features 11 stages and 18 thematic miles with clubs from across Saxony showcasing their talents. A 'Blue Light Mile' offers insights into the technology of customs, police, and rescue services. Adrenaline-pumping rides are available at the funfair.

The neighbouring Czech town of Dolní Poustevna has prepared a varied program for all ages. A traditional highlight of the Tag der Sachsen is the official club medal, minted each year for the festival. The design of the festival medal is praised for its precision and artistic skill by Dr. Rudolph Reimann, President of the Saxon Numismatic Society.

The Tag der Sachsen event offers a wide range of opportunities for active participation in Sebnitz. Participants can actively engage in the event by welcoming guests, co-organizing the parade, and more. By participating in the Tag der Sachsen event, individuals become part of a fantastic team and experience the unique atmosphere and sense of community offered by the festival. Each participant's contribution helps ensure a successful event for visitors from all over Saxony.

The Tag der Sachsen festival medal is available in fine silver, Kaiserzinn, and gilded bronze at the Sebnitz tourist information office. The obverse of the medal features the motto "Flourishing Experiences" and an artistically designed flower band, honoring Sebnitz's long tradition of artificial flower craftsmanship. The reverse side of the medal displays the official festival logo and a characteristic view of the city with the market square.
