On September 19th, music lovers and history enthusiasts alike are invited to embark on a unique tour of the Barmer Gardens in Heckinghausen. The tour, led by Hermann Josef Brester, will feature Professor Dr. Joachim Dorfmüller performing works by composers whose streets in the Heckinghausen composer's quarter bear their names - Carl Maria von Weber, Edvard Grieg, and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.

The tour begins at 2:40 PM at the bus stop Weberstraße of line 644. The journey will take approximately two and a half hours, during which participants will visit various points of interest, including the Luther Church, Villa Friedländer, Hofeshaus Lütterkus-Heidt, Bleicherteich, and the Dicke-Ibach staircase.

The Barmer Gardens, spanning over 300 hectares and including the Barmer Forest, form a large unit with the Murmelbach Valley, the Memorial Cemetery, and the Vorwerk Park. Established in 1864, these gardens have been funded exclusively by private money since their inception. The Barmer Beautification Association (BVV), dedicated to the maintenance of the Barmer Gardens for 160 years, will be a significant part of the tour.

Sturdy footwear is required for the tour, as it involves walking on various terrains. The route also includes numerous monuments and memorial stones, such as the Ringeldenkmal and a monument commemorating the Barmer Mountain Railway, a rack railway that was closed in 1959.

At the end of the event, the Bergisches Heimatlied 'Wo die Wälder noch rauschen' will be performed. A donation of five euros is requested for the tour. Dorothee van den Borre and Stefan Kühn from the organization 'Evangelischer Kirchenkreis Berlin Stadtmitte' will be present in the Barmer Gärten.

The tour is not barrier-free, and visitors are advised to consider this before attending. For those who wish to learn more about the Barmer Gardens and the surrounding areas, 'The Krawatte' invites website visitors to discover the many attractive offers, the great commitment of the BVV, and the neighbouring citizens' associations, especially encouraging young people to participate in the care and preservation of the park.

Lastly, Joachim Dorfmüller will play the organ in the Luther Church during the tour, adding a musical touch to this historical exploration of the Barmer Gardens. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to experience music, history, and nature in one extraordinary event.
